Automatic Newsfilters, or alternative to google news?

justbrowsing

I am still clutching to google news as a source for search results via RSS which is still doable but they are now including a really annoying "This RSS feed URL is deprecated"  in the feeds so I am getting a bunch of them each time I refresh (refer to this screenshot).

I tried the "News Filters" option and it works, but only when I open it up and run the filter, I was thinking it would filter automaticallly at each update. So is there a way to enable this or perhaps am I doing it wrong? Or even better is there some other (hopefully free) service that would allow me to do the same thing for news? something like twitrss but for something like duckduckgo news/search results?

Thanks!

Sheldon
Hi,

Hi,

the custom filters defined under

Tools -> News Filters

are applied at every update. Perhaps there is something wrong with your filter definition.

Please provide it.

Kind regards,

Sheldon

I had assumed it was right as

I had assumed it was right as when I click on "run filter" all those annoying "deprecated" reminders are deleted. Regardless, here is a screen shot of the rule I have set up, I wasn't sure if there is somewhere that shows a script form of the rule but if so please let me know and I will happily post that as well.

Thanks.

Sheldon
The rule seems to be fine.

Ah! it's like I expected!

Ah! It's as expected! Please use the title instead of the decription in your rule.

The title is what you see in the upper news panel. The description is displayed below.
