I installed QuiteRSS recently & am still discovering its features. The Financial Times has a news feed page: https://www.ft.com/news-feed. For some reason QRSS cannot access/load the news, even though I have added a custom rule to the AdBlocker: https:www.ft.com/*
Any suggestions??
That is not a newsfeed for an RRS reader, it's a "news feed" to tempt you to subscribe to the FT.
Hi,
for Financial Times rss feeds have a look at this.
http://www.ft.com/rss?ft_site=falcon&desktop=true
Kind regards,
Sheldon
Phoenix, why then does my web-based news reader take in feed from that site?
Thanks Sheldon. When I click on 1 of the links on that page, I get a whole screen of code. Which part should I use for QuiteRSS?
Just click on the link refering to your favorite like f. e. US.
Afterwards copy the URL (f. e. US)
http://www.ft.com/rss/home/us
from your web browser address field and add it to QuiteRSS.
Alternatively you can perform a right click on the feed link (f. e. US) and copy the link address.
QuiteRSS accepts rss and atom feeds. Your web based reader probably accepts additional formats.
Yes Sheldon, that works well - right click on a relevant feed link. When I click CTRL+N in QRSS the address is there in the dialogue box already. Wow.
QRSS is awesome, the customisability is fantastic. I have dropped my web-based reader for good.
Many thanks for your help

And you might paste the RSS link into a standard web browser so that you can see what it will look like and what "one day's feed" looks like.
You might have a glance at Feed43 or
http://alternativeto.net/software/feed43/
for other methods to get a feed from a site without RSS
Thanks Bill, I got it sorted, as I ndicated above, and will stick with QuiteRSS because it offers everything I need.
