Right now, I am using:
Options -> Notifications -> [X] Only show selected feeds
[_] MyFeed01
[X] MyFeed02
[X] MyFeed03
[_] MyFeed04
And:
Tools -> News Filters...
[Match all news]
[Play a sound]
[_] MyFeed01
[X] MyFeed02
[X] MyFeed03
[_] MyFeed04
This above is to show a notification and play a sound for certain feeds.
It would be much easier to just have this option under Sounds:
[X] Play sound only for notification window
Managing a single list instead of two would be much easier, especially when you have a lot of feeds.
This following plays a sound regardless of notification, which isn't what I want to do: [X] Play sound for incoming new news
Presently, it appears the only way to get a notification with sound for particular feeds is to use two separate lists, unless I'm missing something.
Hi,
before you do any changes to your QuiteRSS please backup the files
feeds.db and QuiteRSS.ini!!! This enables you to recover your QuiteRSS at any time.
For their location please refer to
Help -> About -> Tab "Information"
in QuiterSS.
Afterwards please try this approach.
Go to your news filter under
Tools -> News Filters...
[Match all news]
[Play a sound]
[_] MyFeed01
[X] MyFeed02
[X] MyFeed03
[_] MyFeed04
and add the action
[Show News in Notifier].
Afterwards you won't need the second list under
Options -> Notifications -> [X] Only show selected feeds
any more.
You may want to disable the option
[ ] Play sound for incoming new news
to make sure that the sound is played only for the news fetched by your news filter.
Kind regards,
Sheldon
I agree wth @cyborg... I think by default when the user has selected to view ex 3/10 feeds and not 10/10 @ notification area, the sound should be muted to others. Because this is the purpose, the notification & sound goes to together.
now what is happening :
you hear the sound you look the tray, there is no notification
by example I have 7feeds, I set the 3 of them to make notification the other 4 are 'world news' and every time getting updates. Any time I would like to read 'world news' open the app and read the feeds, but the crucials are the 3.
"Show News in Notifier" never creates a notifier for me. It only recolors text in an existing notificaion window when notfications are already enabled.
Here are my settings:

This test feed updates every 30 seconds:
http://lorem-rss.herokuapp.com/feed?unit=second&interval=30
Feed Update Interval in QuiteRSS: 1 minute
Result: No notification windows ever appear.
On the other hand, improved organziation makes using the two lists much easier.
Example:
[YouTube]
[¯] Feed 1
[¯] Feed 2
[Notify Subfoler]
[X] Feed 3
[X] Feed 4
Organizing Notify feeds into their own subfolder makes it much easier to ensure the correct feeds are checked for both the notification window and sound.
notification & sound goes to together + tray icon, is just a bunch of 3... If the user select the feeds for notification this 3 places should work only for the selected.
Nope, these are independent features that can be combined f. e. in the news filter action section.
