If you don't know if there's

If you don't know if there's a limit (and obviously haven't run into it), why are you even concerned with it?

Hi,

Hi,

you might have configured QuiteRss to store the feeds.db in the memory.

Go to

Tools -> Options -> General

and disable the option "Store a DB in memory" or change the recurring storing time frequency.

You also should clean up the db regularly. For the configuration go to

Tools -> Options -> Feeds -> "Tab Clean-up".

Kind regards,

Sheldon

I'll check on that right now,

I'll check on that right now, after the feed been installed. I'll reply back and tell you if it worked.

""disable the option "Store a DB in memory""" so if I disable that would it be unlimited and there would be no limits is that 'Corect'.

Not exactly. Disabling this

Not exactly. Disabling this option reduces the memory load.

So is there a way I can increase memory, if not much memory can it hond. 1Gb or 500mb?

There is no such memory

There is no such memory setting. QuiteRss just uses the available memory size.
Did you try to disable the db option as described?

Yes I did, sorry for over post that triple because sever of QuiteRss was down and trying do this fast...  ""QuiteRss just uses the available memory size"" that means harddrive free space  available 'RIGHT' and use that in tell gets full 'CORRECT'.

Initially I refered to the

Initially I refered to the cache memory but a least this is true for the hard drive as well.
But the feeds.db will usually never reach that critical size. By the way. What's the feeds.db file size in your case?

size 683mb

Sheldon
And here we are!

And here we are!
That's the problem. Please enable the clean-up and restart QuiteRss.
After that check the file size again.

pixadex
so what does that do and now

so what does that do and now I'm getting 146mb

Sheldon
The clean-up deletes old

The clean-up deletes old records from the db.
So that's already a bit better. Do you still face performance problems?

pixadex
So is memory unlimited is

So is memory unlimited is that corret, of feed downloaded.

Sheldon
In the first place there is

In the first place there is no limit regarding the number of feeds or news.
The only limitations come with the db and the allowed number of records and the hard drive and cache size of your system.
The number of records in the db should not be of your concern. You will normally never reach that.

pixadex
ok thank you for making that

ok thank you for making that clear, and future people that need help on the same topic can come to this thread and read it if they need and support. THANKS.

I have the same problem (more

I have the same problem (more or less).

I'm using the last version (v.0.18.2) at Mint 17.2 x64 KDE.

While QuiteRSS reader is almost perfect (in contrary to Akregator, which is almost abandone BTW), it demands from the user to "pay" a rather big amount of memory, is order to function.

Here QuiteRSS (after following the guidelines above) uses (for the same number of feeds) >500MB, while Akregator only ~40MB (which is >12X).

I like QuiteRSS very much, but I have only 2GB memory installed here, which makes problematic the use of it.

At my opinion it should be a "light" version, or options to restricts the so big memory usage.

Bye!

Have a nice  Holiday Season! Smile

Hi,

Hi,

what's the feeds.db file size?
Did you disable the option "Store a DB in memory"?
Did you configure the db clean up settings?

Kind regards,

Sheldon
